TCTB Review Roundup: TENDERLY: THE ROSEMARY CLOONEY MUSICAL at Old Log Theatre

Good Friday morning, theater friends! Have you been out to Old Log Theatrein Excelsior to see TENDERLY: THE ROSEMARY CLOONEY MUSICAL yet? If not, you still have plenty of time - it continues through June 8. Two of our bloggers saw it and loved it (especially recommended for fans of Rosemary and her friends Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra). Now that spring has sprung, it's a great time to visit the charming lake town with its cute shops, delicious restaurants, and wonderful theater!

"With just a three-person cast and three-person band, we really get to know Rosie at one of the lowest times of her life - her 1968 hospitalization for addiction and mental illness. But we also get to experience the high points of her career, and how she persevered through the hard times and reinvented herself."

"Gracie Anderson plays Rosemary with grace and tenderness. She has the gorgeous vocals to emote the songs and an understanding for the person she was."

"With a sparkling eight-person cast, sharp design, and impeccable timing on this complicated farce, LEND ME A TENOR makes for a fun night at the theater."

"There is something about this type of play that absolutely makes me howl with laughter. I love stylized comedy along with farcical comedies as well. The cast really gets it and plays farcical comedy very well."

Ghost: The Musical - TCTB Review Roundup

Ghost: The Musical, now at Old Log Theatre through September 23. Our bloggers give you the scoop on this movie turned musical!

"If you're looking for a satisfying summer musical experience, head out to Old Log Theatre, one of the oldest theaters in Minnesota, in lovely Excelsior on Lake Minnetonka."

Compendium - Minneapolis on movie turned into musicals: "Are these shows cheesy? Of course. Are they overwrought? Duh. Do I love them? Almost always."

"It's 100% fluff, but there is a crucial difference between low-grade and high-quality fluff. The Old Log's production falls into the category of high-grade fluff, largely because of Eric Morris' witty direction, as well as the talented, energetic cast he's assembled."
Talkin' Broadway

One Girl, Two Cities: "It’s a relatively small cast and has many moving parts, yet everything operates like a well-oiled machine. I’d recommend this for a ladies’ night out or a date night."

"Directed by Eric Morris, and featuring a surprisingly racially diverse cast, the show was diverting and pleasant to watch. But similar to the movie, it's not a show that spoke to me."
