"Bakersfield Mist" plays at Gremlin Theatre in St. Paul through 4/2

"Bakersfield Mist" plays at Gremlin Theatre in St. Paul through 4/2, next to Lake Monster Brewing and there is free parking, if you are driving. Here's a little about the play from our bloggers Jill and Rob:
"Based on the true story of a woman who bought a painting for $5 at a thrift store, only to later find out that it might have been painted by Jackson Pollack...the perfect little 70-minute play that's both seriously funny & deadly serious"

"The production is directed by Angela Timberman who never makes a bad choice."

TCTB Review Roundup: Shows Closing This Week

Happy Memorial Day! Hope you all had a great long weekend, and now it's time to get back to the theater. Cherry and Spoon brings you a few LAST CHANCE shows closing this weekend. Click the links to read more and get tickets.
History Theatre: LORD GORDON GORDON
"With an excellent cast, plenty of Minnesota and Canada jokes, and clever theatrical tricks, it makes for a fun evening at the theater, laughing about the truth-is-stranger-than-fiction antics of a con man and his marks right here in Minnesota almost 150 years ago."

Gremlin Theatre: TAKING SHAKESPEARE
"We get to watch this relationship [teacher/student] play out in the hands of two talented actors (a beloved veteran and an exciting newcomer). It's an exploration of not just Shakespeare, but the changing phases of life, and whatever one's passion happens to be."

Hypnic Jerk Theatre: BULL
"Check it out for a short, intense, engaging, well directed and acted performance... It is indeed, as Hypnic Jerk's tagline says, a story that will jolt you awake."

A Steady Ran and Ishmael - TCTB Review Roundup

Good Monday morning #TCTheater friends! Here are a couple of shows closing this weekend that you might want to check out while you still can.
Gremlin Theatre: A STEADY RAIN, closing Feb. 3
"In what's basically a treatise on toxic masculinity and the damage it can do, playwright Keith Huff has created two complex characters in a brilliantly written play that's impeccably executed by the team at Gremlin. Two incredible acting performances, tight and clear direction, simple yet powerful design that heightens the storytelling, all in an intimate space that makes it feel all too real."

The Jungle Theater: ISHMAEL, closing Feb. 4
"ISHMAEL feels like a Fringe show in its inventiveness, but raised to a new level with the addition of the music and top-notch design elements."
Cherry and Spoonhttp://bit.ly/cs_ishmael
"Jack Weston's performance as Ishmael, along with multiple other characters, was fascinating to watch. I found it incredible how easily he seemed to be able to switch between characters by subtly changing the way that he spoke and the way that he carried himself."

Don't Dress for Dinner - TCTB Review Roundup

The Twin Cities Theater Bloggers are thrilled that there's a new theater space in St. Paul! The Gremlin Theatre debuts their new space, which will hopefully be home to many shows and theater companies in the future, with the hilarious production of DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER. But it closes this weekend, so act fast! Bonus: Lake Monster Brewing is right next door and you can bring their drinks into the theater, and they often have food trucks available, which makes for a fun night out.
Compendium - Minneapolis:
"Essentially a "Who's on First?" for romantic relationships, this silly caper will have you giggling without having to worry about being hit over the head with heavy themes."

Cherry and Spoon:
"A really funny and fast-moving show with a fantastic cast."
